The Tour of Burgundy by Bike
Discover one of the most beautiful routes in France, featuring cycle paths, greenways, and shared roads. You can access various circuits such as the Burgundy canals, the Vineyard Route, the Loire Valley, Southern Burgundy, and more.
Discover and explore 869 km of greenways and cycle routes. The Grand Tour of Burgundy by Bike is an 869 km loop that can be followed in either direction. A smaller loop is also available alongside the larger one. The full loop connects Auxerre, Dijon, Chalon-sur-Saône, Mâcon, and Decize, primarily using greenways and towpaths along the Nivernais canals, the Burgundy Canal, the Centre Canal, and the Saône. It also includes the Loire Valley and the Vineyard Route. In the saddle, you'll successively cross the classified vineyards of the Côte-d'Or, the wooded hills of the Morvan, the fertile plains of the Saône-et-Loire, and the tranquil banks of the Yonne and the Loire latéral rivers. Each stage combines exceptional heritage (Auxerre Cathedral, the Palace of the Dukes of Dijon, the Renaissance quays of Chalon, the old streets of Mâcon, the riverside fortified town of Decize) with epicurean pleasures: tastings of fine wines, gastronomic stops, and local markets. The Tour de Bourgogne cycle route is fully signposted, punctuated by TER train stations and accommodations mentioned in the guide. It is accessible to a wide audience due to the slight elevation changes.
