The Eurovelo 4 is also called the Central European Bike Route because it connects Roscoff in France to Kiev in Ukraine. Here is the information you need to know about this Eurovelo:

  • More than 5,000 km of cycling route
  • 7 countries crossed: France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine
  • many UNESCO listed sites (Normandy cliffs, Prague...)
  • discovery of impressive medieval architecture and dynamic cities on the Eurovelo 4
  • The Vélomaritime is part of the Eurovelo 4

Cycling on the Eurovelo 4

While the French, Belgian and Dutch parts of the route take place along the coastline of the English Channel, the rest of the route takes place in the geographical center of Europe with stopover cities such as Frankfurt, Prague, Krakow before ending in Kiev. It is a very diversified cycling route to discover Central Europe!

EuroVelo 4, Vélomaritime and major cycling routes

It is good to know that only the French part: the Vélomaritime, is completely marked out. If you can ride the entire route, you will have to compose your own route because even if there are bike paths in some countries like Germany or the Netherlands, there is not necessarily any continuity. You will have to use bike maps or collaborative GPS tracks for example.
