Discover the province of Groningen by bike using the Dutch junction network

The ANWB Fietsknooppuntenkaart 4 – Groningen West map is designed to help cyclists explore the western part of the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. Produced by ANWB, the leading Dutch organization for mobility and tourism, it uses the well-known numbered junction network (fietsknooppunten), widely used throughout the country.

This system makes it easy to create your own cycling route. Before setting off, simply note the sequence of numbers corresponding to the junctions in the network. On the ground, signs clearly indicate these numbers, making it easy to follow the route. Thanks to this simple and intuitive method, cyclists can adapt their route along the way and easily create a new loop depending on their preferences or the weather.

The map covers the western part of the province of Groningen and showcases the typical landscapes of the northern Netherlands: polders, dikes, vast meadows, and wetlands. It is an excellent resource for planning cycling trips in this region, renowned for its safe and well-signposted cycle routes.

At a scale of 1:100,000, the map provides a clear overview of the area and facilitates the planning of regional routes. Main roads, cycle routes, and network junctions are shown, allowing cyclists to easily navigate from one point to another. This scale provides an effective overview while remaining practical for use in the field.

In addition to the junction network, the map also indicates the LF (Landelijke Fietsroutes), the major national cycle routes of the Netherlands. These long-distance routes connect different regions of the country and can be incorporated into shorter circuits using the junction network.

Useful tourist information complements the map: museums, restaurants, campsites, and other points of interest are marked to help cyclists plan their breaks and stops. Practical details such as the road network, ferry connections, and other useful infrastructure for cyclists are also included.

Practical and compact, this folded map easily fits in a handlebar bag or jacket pocket. It's part of a series of 28 ANWB regional maps covering the entire Netherlands, allowing cyclists to explore the country by combining several sheets.

⚠️ Please note: the map legend and information are only available in Dutch.
