Crossing the Massif Central by bike 

Discover all the facets of this massif, often unknown but rich in landscapes and heritage:

• its rounded volcanic mountains
• its sharp ridges
• Plateaus with a limitless horizon
• Deep gorges and small valleys, its burons and granite villages...

Based on the GTMC "Grande Traversée du Massif Central", the official mountain bike route, the authors have prepared two versions for different practices:

1. The Gravel/VTC version to take advantage of the passages most adapted to a soft "off-road" practice (tracks or paths that are passable and not too technical, unevenness that allows roaming with panniers), with interesting alternatives to the more typical mountain bike passages.
2. The Road version takes you on small local roads and departmental roads, to discover this exceptional territory on a paved route adapted to road bikes.

And if your heart is set on both, you can switch from one to the other without moderation! CartoCyclo will accompany you throughout this crossing as a guide on the road, but also to allow you to discover the geography, heritage and history of the Massif Central.
